Over the summer Jacob got a training single and during our summer camp he helped get other team members up to speed with sculling! And inspired all of our learn to row campers too!

Congratulations to this week's Team Member of The Week: Jacob Chang

We love Jacob's list of rivers and courses he wants to row on and we can't wait to help him mark some of those off!

Jacob joined JLRC as a member of our inaugural middle school team in the Fall of 2017 and quickly grew to love the sport! From day one he has always been focused and taken direction and been an extremely steady presence amongst our middle school boy's team.

Over the summer Jacob took part in the William and Mary rowing summer camp and was the youngest camper taking part. He also got a training single sculling shell and spends as many hours as possible honing his sculling skills.

During our JLRC summer camp Jacob would help and get all of the learn to row campers out on the water and would jump in wherever needed, as a rower, coxswain, or sculling coach for his JLRC team mates. It was awesome to see and all of the kids in the summer camp were blown away to see Jacob launching his single and going for a paddle alongside them.

Jacob is always willing to help, no job is too small or too big! Whether that is helping our Team Manager, Heidi hitch and unhitch the boat trailer at the end of the summer camp -- on a blistering hot day -- or spending two hours rigging boats to get everything ready for a Saturday practice after the hurricane contingencies meant a lot of loading and unloading of the boats. Jacob understands what it takes to get these boats out on the water.

Jacob's enthusiasm for rowing inspires even our Founder, Coach Jim. Jacob has his goals for which rivers and courses he would like to row on, he follows chats about rowing and stays up to date with what is happening in our sport. After purchasing his own training single he also has a full appreciation for the value of each piece of equipment and all safety protocols - whether it is slings to hold the boats, or the boat ties used to tie them down, or one type of oar over another.

Jacob you truly live the values of rowing and have since day one! We hope you know how wonderful it is to see someone enjoying the sport so much! Thank you for being a part of Jordan Lake Rowing Club.

JLRC is celebrating our third birthday and we are raising funds to start an equipment fund. The equipment fund will ensure that membership fees can be kept at reasonable levels and will allow us to ring fence funds to upgrade and maintain equipment needed for the team to achieve their rowing goals. Thank you! Every dollar makes a huge difference.

Wowza team! You have some fans who really love you out there. Huge thank you to everyone who has donated to support JLRC in the first two weeks of our campaign.

US Rowing's Club Nationals brings together the top youth rowers in the country. After a month training at US Rowing's High Performance Camp in Oregon, Nathan was selected to compete in three events at Club Nats! Winning a bronze medal in the U19 4x event!

An epic first outing at Youth National for JLRC! Way to represent and inspire Michael and Nathan! So proud of all you have achieved this year.
